Company News gives your business one place to write, manage and share news. Internal users see every article in the Company News app in Lightning. Articles you mark for external use are also published to a Company Portal built on Experience Cloud, where customers and partners can browse news and read full stories.
Key features
- One place to write: a title, short description and a full rich-text article, with a publish date.
- Internal view: a Latest News carousel and an All Company News grid with search, filters by visibility and date, and newest or oldest sorting.
- Internal and External badges: see at a glance which articles are public.
- Cover images: uploaded once and stored as Salesforce Files, with a clean placeholder when there is no image.
- Company Portal: a featured announcement, latest news cards, a full News page and article detail pages on Experience Cloud.
- Smart navigation: the Back button always returns visitors to the page they came from.
You control what goes external
A single Visible in Community checkbox decides whether an article is eligible for the portal. The filtering happens on the server, so internal-only articles are never sent to the external site, even if someone inspects the page in a browser.
How it works
- An administrator creates an article and optionally adds a cover image.
- They tick Visible in Community if it should go external.
- Internal users see and manage everything in the Company News app.
- The portal shows only the externally visible articles, as cards that open full stories.
For administrators
Authorised administrators see an Open Record button on the portal’s article page that jumps straight to the standard Salesforce record, so they can edit in one click. Access is controlled by a dedicated permission set.
Who it is for
Internal communications teams and news administrators in Lightning, and customers, partners and other external visitors on the Company Portal.
